DESCRIPTION:All age levels and skill levels are welcome to join this watercolor class where students will first learn basic watercolor techniques\, followed by painting the memorable Lindstrom water tower (tea pot) for Karl Oskar Days. By the end\, students will learn that while watercolor seems daunting and impossible to master\, through practice and Norah’s guidance they will discover that this medium is easy and relaxing to use. This class is very beginner friendly.

SUMMARY:Create\, Connect\, Age Well: Cyanotype Wall Hanging
DESCRIPTION:Cyanotype is a camera-less photography and printmaking process that uses sunlight to create stunning white-and-blue images. In this class\, you’ll create your own cyanotype artwork by arranging pressed flowers and other flat objects onto pre-treated paper and exposing it to UV light. \nYou’ll experiment with floral composition on an 8.5″x11″ sheet of watercolor paper before developing your print in the sunlight. Then we’ll rinse\, oxidize\, and dry the print before mounting your favorite piece in a wooden magnetic wall-hanging frame — ready to display as soon as you get home. \nPlease note: cyanotype printing depends on sunlight and weather conditions. Overcast days may increase exposure times\, while heavy cloud cover or rain can make printing impossible. If needed\, a rain-date backup session will be scheduled. The instructor will notify students the evening before class if weather conditions appear unfavorable. \nYour instructor will provide the following materials: \n\nAll project materials\, including pre-treated cyanotype watercolor paper\, Cyanotype solutions for student experimentation\, pressed flowers and foliage\, cardboard for backing\, glass and plastic sheets for pressing\, hydrogen peroxide\, drying rack\, 9” wood frames \n\nStudents are asked to bring:  \n\nOptional: pressed flowers or other flat objects you’d like to include in your cyanotype artwork.\n\nAge Requirement \nStudents ages 60 and older. SUMMARY:Pen & Ink with Barbara Van Dell Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Discover the beauty and versatility of pen and ink drawing with renowned local artist Barbara Van Dell Robinson. In this hands-on workshop\, Barbara will introduce students to a variety of fundamental pen and ink techniques through demonstrations and guided practice. \nStudents will work from reference images provided by the instructor and learn how different line qualities\, textures\, and shading methods can bring a drawing to life. After experimenting with several techniques\, each participant will create a small finished artwork to take home. \nWhile some basic drawing experience is helpful\, it is not required. Barbara will provide simple subjects and individualized guidance to help students feel comfortable and successful. \nMaterials to Bring: \n\n1 package of Micron fine-point pens (black or colored; .005 size preferred)\nSmall Bristol paper drawing pad (9″ x 12″ or smaller)\, or any smooth-surface drawing paper\n\nWhat You’ll Take Away:\nBy the end of class\, students will have a greater understanding of pen and ink techniques\, increased confidence using the medium\, and a completed sketch or small artwork of their own.
